‘Bad belle’

Never do well;

I was tagged worse names, than those.

In fact, I was the perfect opposite of what anyone would wish for themselves and their generations.

Right from the many unsuccessful attempt to gain admission into the University, to trying to travel to the UK, then my attempt to settling down in marriage… all has been a series of disasters and failure upon failure.

Despite being in the top 5 of my class at O’Reilly Senior High School, Okpoi-Gonno… I was the last to get into the University. 

The 4 times I wrote WAEC, in a bid to pass English Language, everyone who got some type of help from me would all pass, while I failed.

When I finally managed to get into the University, paying my school fees became a tug of war… as an uncle who was supposed to sponsor me, died in that Accra-Kumasi Highway accident of 2014, that claimed 21 lives.

As a result, I dropped out.

I moved from one church to another. From countless witch doctors to another. I doubt if there’s any witch doctor in Ghana and Benin Republic that I didn’t visit… I was even made to bath with a liquid that smelled like poo somewhere in Port Novo, in Benin. No help was forthcoming.

One of the people I met, a very nice pastor with a small church in Accra advised that I marry, citing ‎Proverbs 18:22, and stressing a lot about how “he who finds a wife, finds a good thing”.


I did marry… but did it open any door?

Your guess is as good as mine… things got even worse. We lost pregnancy twice, and couldn’t trace it to anything. In fact, the second pregnancy just vanished at 6 months. No medical explanation whatsoever.

It became obvious that what I suffered wasn’t ordinary, but a spiritual warfare.

…after 2 years of trying to find a solution with me together, my wife dumped me and left.

Then there was a suggestion from an old school friend in Spain to visit a certain traditional doctor in Boundou-Woudoundou, Gorom-Gorom, Burkina Faso. It was said that the guy had a small river where he baths folks in similar situation as mine… and their problems disappear.

After 3 months, I borrowed some money and set out to see the Burkina Faso native doctor;


…and that was how I ran into what led to my breakthrough.

Unfortunately, the solution did not finally come from the native doctor.

While in the bus to Burkina Faso, the solution came…. right inside the bus.

Immediately, we left the park, an evangelist, sitting right in front of me started praying. 5 minutes into his prayers, he opened his eyes, and gazed directly on me for seconds.

Then he start literally reading out my life history, like he knew me. He even mentioned that the journey I have embarked on will yield no result.  He then told me that the solution to my problem was not even in his hands;

…and that if I needed to PERMANENTLY end the perennial bad luck hovering over my life, then I should see him at the end of our journey.


The journey was long…

I cancelled my planned visit to the traditional medicine man in Burkina Faso,… and chased the bus preacher.
